If the stone animates normally inanimate objects (reminds me of the spell in Bedknobs and Broomsticks, but that’s off on a tangent), couldn’t they store it in an ALREADY animated object to nullify its effects, ie a certain living construct…
That is definitely an interesting idea. I had contemplated what would happen if Otto touched the gem, but wasn’t sure as he’s an object. Maybe he gets the vision, maybe the gem takes him over, maybe nothing at all. I’d love to hear anyone else’s ideas.
I am pretty sure that we had a very reasonable and well thought out explanation as to why the gem looks like a giant green glowing acorn. Unfortunately that conversation happened about 27-30 weeks ago and I sometimes forget things like that. It might have been something like, “Hey that looks cool use that,” and it wasn’t a reasoned out beyond that. But that was half a year ago, maybe Jeremy remembers better than I do.
Maybe something along the lines of “well, acorns look inanimate, but grow into live trees”?
Right now the acorn is being held by a glove, and it isn’t animating yet…
Maybe only things it touches that aren’t also being touched by a living creature are animated?
Anyway, to be safe, looks like a cleavage carry-scheme might be the answer for the acorn…
This is definitely along the right track of thinking. When we were discussing the gem’s design, I wanted something that represented elemental earth and life from the inanimate. As for why her gloves don’t come to life, that’s because it’s part of Aaleonis, sorta. Her backpack came to life in her hands. I’m going to say it’s because Jim needed the players to handle the gem and get the vision and didn’t consider who wore gloves. Mainly because in this situation I’m Jim and I didn’t consider it.

Well, put it in a bag and try befriending the bag.
And if that don’t work, try another bag until you find one that does.
I do believe that a thought like that had crossed our minds.
Well, carrying it seems to work. Also, has anybody else noticed that it looks like a giant jade acorn?

Come to think of it, acorns are inanimate, yet alive. Hmmm.
Course, so are eggs…
